    3.0tdi actuator issue
Hi everyone this is my first post on here

the emission control light popped up today on my car it's on 136k and spends all it's life on the motorway. I know one glow plug needs replacing but when I took the engine cover off the actuator for what I presume is the inlet manifold is constantly opening and closing I've done a vid to show this

after a short drive the car doesn't seem to have lost any power and so far hasn't gone into limp mode. I'll be getting the car hooked upto a fault code reader tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone had seen this before?

That's a great help, its a relief to see its nothing major. I take it I can still drive the car for a couple of days with the fault with out causing any major issues

I really can't answer that question...

I'm just a geeky owner who likes to solve his own problems and help others ... not a mechanic...

You could PM the people who have had this fault...

    Gavin0478

    Ming

    Milu-

There are some proper mechanic posters like Crasher, A8 Tech, Peter D, Adamss24, Zollaf... (sorry if a forgotten others )...

There are many and maybe they will come along and post...

I caught mine at the milder stage... I was not yet getting the EGR cooling flap and Turbo VNT actuator moving...

I had that same issue and a new throttle butterfly was needed.
    Easy part to fit.
Part number V059 145 950 R C6C2 Valve at around £300 plus vat from dealer for my asb engined a6.

Hi I've had the car looked at today the fault codes are as follows

04203 throttle valve stuck or difficult to move p1068 upper limit reached intermittent
05504 throttle actuator bank (bank 1) malfunction p1580 not a plausible signal

ive been quoted £220 including vat fitted with the part coded in so it's getting done Monday

thanks for all the help I appreciate it

Thats a very good price. i went genuine with the throttle butterfly because there has been many revisions as nost have a combination of metal and plastic cogs which wear.

The way I'm looking at it is that's its lasted 5 years and 136k miles so If the part lasts that long again i can cope with that. I only ever drive the car on motorway or long drives so I can't see it being an issue as more than likely its soot build up that causes them to wear in the first place. Time will tell though
