    Hi
On the exterior features of the mk7 golf a "Climate Control windscreen" is listed under Technology.

Can't find a price for this on the brochure/price list - i doubt it is standard...

Any ideas how much this costs?

Just had confirmation from VW UK:

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding the new Golf.

I am delighted to learn of your interest in Volkswagen and particularly in the legendary Golf. I can confirm that the technology used for the climate control windscreen is an electronically conductive layer powered by a 12V on board power supply.

It will provide perfect visibility at all times, which means no fogging and it will also clear ice. It is an invisible heating function and there are no wires, like the rear screen.

I hope this information proves useful. Thank you for contacting Volkswagen UK

So they've finally caught up with the Ford QuickClear windscreen

Sounds quite good though, just a shame as with most things VW its an option and not standard.

If fact there have bettered the Ford system which required thin wires in the front screen.

As for most things being options on the new Golf VII the new SE model includes the following items as standard, all of which are extras on my current Audi A3...
    Touch screen controls.
    Leather trimmed multi-function steering wheel
    Through load provision
Rear centre armrest with cup holders
    12v socket in Luggage compartment
Rain sensors and automatic dimming interior mirror
Dusk sensor and automatic driving lights
    Automatic Distance Cruise control
    Driver profile selection.

and the GT version has even more "goodies" as standard.

Where items are extras, they are generally cheaper than the similar option on an Audi. Having owned an A3 of one version or another (8 in total) since 1998 and having sat in the new A3 followed by the new Golf VII at Autostadt in Wolfsburg a couple of months ago, I think my current A3 will be the last. The Golf was definitely as good inside as the A3 and if I spec a Golf and an A3 to be the same spec as my current A3 it will work out around £2k cheaper.

I believe that it is standard across the whole Mark VII range.

That sounds good, can't seem to find it in the price list though are they calling it something else?

    Go to:

    http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/#/new/go...ce/technology/

It's called Climate Comfort Windscreen on that page but Climate Control Windscreen elsewhere - click on OPEN and it explains more. But you're right in that they don't list it under Standard Specification but I do believe it is standard.
