A4 1.8t 163 engine code avj???

I am trying to identify the turbo for my 1.8t 2002 163 and every site i look at says the engine code cant be avj as this is the 150 bhp, but i have checked all documentation and the code on the engine is definetely avj. Can anyone help?

already checked = avj but no parts ive found match the 163 and engine code avj

I have exactly the same issue with my car, my engine is definitely an AVJ, which is 100% the 150 bhp model, yet the log book shows it as the SE model which all insurance companies say is the 163!! They say tge SE was only ever built as a 163bhp. Even Audi has confirmed for me it is a 150bhp AVJ SE Model.

if yours has the AVJ engine (like mine) it will have the K03 Turbo

Right, checked all paperwork, stickers and engine stamp all confirm avj code and all original paperwork from audi and databases state 163bhp model. what is the main difference between the 150 and 163? i know the 163s from 2004> had ko3s turbo, so i assume my 163 has a ko3s? only need to know so i can get all the correct parts etc. mine is the sport model if that makes a difference.

has Audi confirmed it is a 163bhp? I find this strange as I spent ages trying to get an answer to this question myself as mine is insured as a 163 due to it being an SE on the log book yet Audi say it is a 150bhp due to it having the AVJ engine and that was only ever a 150bhp engine. I'm worried if I have an accident they may use it as a loophole as the car isn't what it says it is!!

update = rechecked sticker and states 110kw which is the 150 bhp. The 163bhp was on cars after 07/2002 and my car was first registered 01/2002 (found this on a russian website). So now the task of informing the insurance company! . how can this problem exist? where does the information come from at first registration?

You are going to have the same problem as me, It cannot be insured as a 150bhp if it is an SE, the insurance companies cannot insure it as a 150bhp if they do not have a 150bhp SE on there data base. It is a real pain as I asked them to amend the details and they said this would involve insuring the car as a modified car which would mean the insurance would be more!!!!!! I also asked if I could get it remapped to 163bhp and not effect my policy and they then said this would not be OK either as it would be seen as a modification even though it will make it the power they thought it was!! they understood my problem but couldn't do anything about it!

get it in writing from audi that it is 150 bhp, then present that to your insurance company. if they don't respond then go to the ombudsman.

I done this too and they gave the same response, If it isn't on there Database there is nothing they can do. it's a really bad situation, surely the insurance companies must be able to contact Audi to get that Model confirmed
