    Hi

I am after a spare set of wheels for my wifes 2004 Mk 5 golf 1.9 tdi with standard 15" alloys (ET50 - 6.5 J) tyre size 195/6515.

I want to put a set of winter mud and slush tyres on it, so need a set of rims. I have had a look on fleebay thinking that I would be able to pick up a set of steel rims cheapish, nope.

So what other wheels will fit the car ? MK4 Golf ?

    Cheers Ian

MK4 rims would still fit the MK5. I have a friend who has a MK4 set of alloys for his MK6 which are purely used for winter and off roading.

    Hope this helps

Sorry Shockerton but I think this is wrong - MkIV were 5x100, MkV were 5x112. 5x112 is the same as all Passats from '97 on and most Audi's bar the A3 where earlier versions were 5x100, same as MkIV Golf. Most Merc wheels are 5x112 as well but have a bigger centre bore (though you can get spigot rings off ebay v.cheap) and usually have smaller offset.

    Have a look at: http://www.wheelfitment.eu/car/Volkswagen/

Im pretty sure he uses old MK4s on his MK6 during winter, He spoke about it couple months back.

No, the Golf 4 PCD is 5x100 and the Golf 5 5x112 so they will not fit.

    hi
even if you get the same stud pattern the offset should be the same or very close.

Or relevant to the size of the wheel as when going wider the ET changes.
