  1. Used A7's mainly demonstrators - dragging down 2nd hand value

    All,

I've done a little research on 2nd hand A7's, not that I want to sell, but I get the feeling that anyone wanting a 3 year trade in is going to be disappointed when the time comes!

    There are 178 used A7's on Audi.co.uk
There are 89 used Audi's on Autotrade, only 2 of which are private, so the other 87 (or close to it) are probably also on audi.co.uk - I couldn't be bothered to check.

There probably aren't 178 A7's actually owned by you and me in the UK - it would be very interesting to see the actual sales figures, can't find any on the net!

The prices are very very keen and even with my nice discount on purchase I can see a bath being taken on this one when the time comes, which for me at least is hopefully about 12 years down the road - at which point I won't care!

Obviously Audi FORCE the dealers into buying A7's which then end up as cheap 2nd hand stock when the dealers want shot, I've experienced a dealer wanting shot of a demonstrator, not with Audi, but at Mini, a Petrol Countryman had a great chunk slashed off it when there was a chance of a sale, nearly enough to defeat the advantage of buying a diesel over 10 years!

It would have been slightly more honest to purchasers that Audi UK kepted a dozen or two demonstrators around the country for sales purposes which might help residuals a bit?

    Your thoughts ladies and gentlemen!

    Cheers

    Jon

With all £40K plus cars, history tells us that depreciation will be 60% off list after 3 years. So my £50K list audi will be worth only £20K, if I am lucky. Hence why I will keep it for 10 years. Check out 3 years old Merc CLS', you will be surprissed how cheap they are. Jaguar XJ's at 2.5 years old are already at £27K and they were £55K new.

Interesting site. Not seen that before.

When I was a kid we had a Chrysler Alpine. It was a terrible car and barely went even when new. We had the "posh" GLS version which I think included a glove box over the GL. Occassionally I wonder if there is any chance anyone still might have one. Well now I know. Search results for 'chrysler alpine gls' - How Many Left?
