before removing the steering wheel you shouldve known to tape the slip ring position first rule

i cant gain access to Rosstech website for some reason but as soon as its working again ill post the fault diagnosis.

    wiki.ross-tech.com/index.php/01826

try turning your steering wheel lock to lock a few times then drive in a straight line ... it could clear itself.

    Thanks Chris

I think the ross tech site is down - been trying to get on for a while now! Anyway, just took it for a spin and it seems to have sorted itself - phew!

Just for my reference, how do you tape up the slip ring - before you remove the steering wheel?
    Cheers

you dont - you need to tape it when the wheel is removed (i constructed my reply wrong) with insulation tape at 9pm/3pm and 6pm positions

by the way everytime you disconnect the battery you will get an esp fault relating to the above - just do the lock to lock and a short drive and it will clear.

remember to tape the slip ring too
