    Hi,

I just bought my golf mk4 gt tdi 2000 plate knowing the electric windows were not working and assuming that it was a motor fault, when i press the switch the motor clicks twice (like a relay switch) but no movement, this happens on all 4 windows, so far i have tried a different motor in the drivers side and that does the same thing, i have also checked the car to door wiring connector for any signs of decay or rust and they are perfect, i am assuming that the fuses are ok as the rcl works and the interior lights are working and thrre must be power going thru to the motor to make the clicking noise?

Has anyone had this problem before and found a fix? Please help as its driving me mad!

Have you taken the door card off to see if the motor is turning, turning the cable winder on the window regulator etc? It seems odd that all 4 windows are not working. I might be the CCM unit (electronic box of tricks). This might be identified with a VAG COM / VCDS scan... which might show fault codes relating to it.

Hi geoff, yes tried all that, yesterday i had to take out the passenger seat because of flooding caused by water coming thru the pollen filter housing (think its the seal) the soundproofing underneathe was soggy with an inch of water! Anyway while i had this out i checked the wiring harness more thouroughly and while it was wet there were no breaks in the wires and the plug areas were dry, strange thing is that when i put the ignition on after reconnecting the battery the back two windows worked once down and back up again Then nothing?? i think the next step is a diagnostic check like you said. Alas, more money :-(

    ^ That.

If your carpet was wet, chances are the CCM has been submerged for some time.

Is the ccm underneath the passenger seat on a golf? Only thing i found there was a small blue box with a single plug connection, this was soaked with water however maybe this has something to do with it?

I'm an idiot (and so is Hex). I see CCM I immediately think Passat. Sorry!

The CCM on a mkiv Golf is in the dash. Access is via removal of the knee bolster.
