Out of interest, what do people pay for their insurance?

I've had a good ring round and the best I could get was £520 with Direct Line.

That is fully comp, protected no claims, legal cover and hire car. £150 excess plus a voluntary excess of £150, so £300 total.

The cover is for myself (aged 30) and my wife (aged 29) as a named driver. I have 12 years NCB, zero points, zero claims and zero convictions.

We live in East Sussex, Tonbridge post code.

How does that compare to you?

My renewal (last December when I was 42) was about £440 with esure; the same benefits as you but with just £150 excess. That's for the 2.0 diesel though. My wife's included as a named driver but she's been made to sit on the naughty step a couple of times after flirting with the cameras!

So, considering the difference in age (12 years - not that I'm rubbing it in!) and the difference in power (3.0 V6 > 2.0), then £80 and the difference in excess seems pretty good, I think?

Will be interesting to see some more comparisons

55, 2 yrs NCD (company car driver before that, not taken in to account), wife (67, retired) as named driver, SP30 on her licence, nothing on mine, rural postcode (HP22) parked on road at night, includes business use, 15k annual mileage; £770 fully comp including 1 years RAC European recovery, hire car and legal cover, policy excess £50. Recovery is just shy of £100, legal and hire car £25 each, so basic policy £620. 3.0l tdi Quattro Avant Tiptronic Le Mans worth £14k'ish. That's with "Quotemehappy" aka Aviva (but web only) nee Norwich Union. Not the cheapest, but I started the policy on a C-Max knowing I wanted the Audi later in the year, and QMH were definite that they would insure me (my previous, Renew Insurance, would only do so with 3 yrs NCD).

Would expect a drop next year to around £500 / 550 mark for basic premium, but with 3 yrs NCD more players will be in the market for my business (though probably not DL who were >£100 more expensive)

2.0 litre, 36 yrs old, no points (when policy was taken), 3 yrs ncb, wife (42) named driver which brought premium down even though she had an at fault claim, £770. The BB Postcode is what drives my premium skyward. Insured for business use but that never affects premium. LV Budget is the insurer after checking Compare The Market, Confused, Go Compare, Money Supermarket & Direct Line. However last renewal Chris Knott (site sponsor) did offer lower premium with more add ons and lower excess but at the time I didn't have the cash for the initial payment (2 months up front as per usual when changing insurer) so had to stick with LV as I could just continue normal monthly payments rather than paying an upfront payment (hope that makes sense).

8yrs NCB 48 yr old + wife 42 with 7 yrs NCB both protected for life with all the benefits and £300 excess iirc for £320 comprehensive and that included business mileage too.

I could have went with some company or other and got it for around £280 but decided to stick with my insurers ( Morethan ) as they've been great with some recent issues and the premiums haven't really went up.
Well, they did try and raise last years by about £70 but I persauded them to reduce it to keep my business

    All in all pretty decent

I was tempted to try Chris Knott (site sponsor)... good to hear they are competitive

But due to how the two policies are linked and Privilege allow business use without covering goods and been with them 8 -10 years (each year they do quote higher than previous and some persuasive words work )
