    HI,

    ive just bought an audi a3 1.6se and in the service book it doesnt say when the cambelt is due for changing does anyone know at all and also where the onboard computer shows you the outside tempreture isnt working does anyone know how i can get this sorted as well thanks.

    i checked a while ago at garage database it said you dont have to change them on a 1.6 8L. ive never heard of one snapping but if its high milage it might not be worth the risk

    hi well ive booked it in for cambelt changing and water tank (think thats what it is) as dont want to risk it and engine going. its only low milage but was told by garage cos of age it probably does need changing cheers guys

    On a petrol engine it is every five years and roughly every 80K miles on that engine.

    Its a water pump they changing,yea good idea.Had someone changed cambelt kit last year without a new water pump trying to save money and this week BANG,water pump pulley came out and split cam belt so a head off job and some new valves.

    Yes, never change just the belt kit if the water pump is driven off the belt which it is not on some engines.

    well i know water pump is the original thats on it so thought better get it changed with the cambelt. car is 51 reg thats why want to get it done as its only done 65000 miles and i do a lot of driving so knowing my luck if i didnt get it done it would end up going bang lol
