I have meant CR - common rails (after 2008) or the earlier ones (PD - not sure what it stands for). Seems like most posts in this thread did not refer to the face lift models which has the common rail diesel. Somebody mentioned that in these the cleaner wouldn't be getting to the right place....

What is everyone's feelings on terracleans customer service?

I have been trying to get in contact with them (the actual manufacture, rather than a local dealer) trying to get some information on the machine with the intention of trying to get it put into my workshop, which is HGV based (hence trying to find out information on it effects on trucks). I emailed them but haven't heard a reply in 4 weeks, i sent them a message on facebook and was told that they are "extremely busy" and would get back to me, that was 2 weeks ago and i still haven't heard anything.

It just doesn't inspire you with confidence that they wont reply to a potential sales inquiry so whats their customer service going to be like if i did get the machine and something went wrong with it!!

Just wondered if anybody that may own a machine has come across this problem before. The thing is that they have the monopoly as there is no one else that has a system like it.

    Cheers

Mike, no experience as a trader and suggest you simply post a similar thread up on the numerous Terraclean threads on various forums, once they realise they are getting bad reviews from a prospective trader they may speed up.

I did send them an email around a year ago on an EGR cleaning service they were going to offer (mentioned on this thread I believe) and the nearest one available near to me, got a 'we're busy' email and nothing since

So from the standpoint of a consumer am not overly enamoured with their comms skills!

    Thanks for your reply mark.

I have just posted on some other forums, just have to see if anyone else has had the same problem. Like i say its a a shame because the system looks quite good but i need to know the information as i need to put together a business case for the procurement of the machine.

Like i say it just doesn't inspire you with confidence!!

    thanks for your help

Well hopefully you'll hear from Ranstad in time, and there's you wanting to spend £5k minimum and they don't seem to want your money!

Thought I would add to this thread about my recent Terraclean experience in case anyone else had similar issues.

I have a A4 2.7 TDI 2009 that i bought a few months back with 96,000 on the clock. Had the DPF light come on once and did a additive DPF cleaner and the usual rules to regen. All was fine but a month later I had the emissions control system light come on with fault code (p7156 / p2015 - intake manifold flap position sensor bank 1 system pluasible). Advised by a couple of garages that the flaps were buggered and needed to replace both manifolds (have to replace them as a pair apparently) at a cost of £1500.

But the light would go out often but return momentarily. I thought the flaps werent returning to position and might be sticking and hoped to find an easy fix. After a bit of research on Terraclean and knowing a local mechanic that offers the service I found they do an EGR / DPF valve clean as well as the normal Terraclean. I opted for both for £300 to give it a good clean and gamble on an easy fix for the flaps. The chap mentioned that it goes through the intake manifold so might fix. It also goes through the DPF and he did a forced regen as well. He says there was a good 3mm carbon buildup on the egr valve and gunk inside the intake manifolds but no more after the Terraclean.

So I have a fully terracleaned car as of 2 days. The fault code has gone and is not returning after trips. The car "feels" healthier if that makes sense. More responsive on low throttle adding to the mpg. I have much less turbo lag than before and it feels more powerful.

That might not be the case in a couple of months so I'll post back if the fault code comes back or car dies.

I took apart a B7 RS4 after a Terraclean. Inlet ports and valves still heavily covered in carbon. Some parts where slightly cleaner then expected but 100% proof to me that it did not work. I've tried all sorts of chemical, degreasers, EGR cleaners, DPF cleaners etc etc on carbon that is built up in the engine and it either has no effect or it just turns to thick sticky gunk.

I just can't see how pumping some cleaner through a inlet system will clean any carbon build up. It may wash away very mild oil residue in the inlet, valves etc but it won't physical remove the build up of carbon. If you have ever stripped a engine down, Most diesels or direct injection cars, B7 RS4's Spring to mind, you need to put in some serious elbow grease to remove that crap.

These machines may of improved and so may of the cleaning agent used but from my experience, it's a load of nonsense.

I would actually love to strip down, inspect, build up, Terraclean, strip down and inspect a B7 RS4, you never know, I may be converted.

unless terraclean actually uses some chemical cleaning agent hitherto unheard of or maybe from outer space , as used by an alien life form to remove gunk from interstellar forms or propulsion , or uses fire, lots of fire and brimstone..
