    OK,

    Car was broken into, rns e was stolen, they even stole the bluetooth unit & just to top it all off they cut all the wires behind the stereo.

    I've spent the week soldering and messing around getting it all working...

    The RNS-E works perfectly, even the MFSW with the ipod dock.

    Just received my new BT unit from fleabay and wired it all in.

    questions...

    1) Should the RNS-E come up with "telephone not installed" if the RNS-E hasn't been coded to have telephone...
    2) Should I be able to find the bluetooth unit if it has power via searching for bluetooth on my phone.
    3) Logged into the rns e engineering mode which is showing coding of 301111, I assume it needs to be 301511?
    4) I have I believe an old vag com cable which works fine with my girlfriends 2002 golf, assume I need some form of updated one for use on my audi a4 b7?

    Help much appreciated, just desperate to get the car back to normal it's getting me down now!

    Thanks
    Rob

    Heres the coding for the rnse

    Audi Radio/Navigation System (RNS-E) - Ross-Tech Wiki

    you will need to code it to the equipment fitted to your car

    1) Yes the unit needs to be coded for telephone and will say telephone not installed until this is done

    2) You might find it but it wont work until coded

    3) Your coding should be at least 030151 - Do you have MFSW? CD Changer? Replace the - with
    Code:
    1 = TV-Tuner/CD-Changer/Multi-Function Steering Wheel not installed
    2 = TV-Tuner installed
    3 = CD-Changer installed
    4 = TV-Tuner and CD-Changer installed
    5 = Multi-Function Steering Wheel installed
    6 = TV-Tuner and Multi-Function Steering Wheel installed
    7 = CD-Changer and Multi-Function Steering Wheel installed
    8 = TV-Tuner and CD-Changer and Multi-Function Steering Wheel installed
    4) Try it and see, it probably wont and you might need a HEX USB CAN model for it to work - we have a sponsor in London who can do this for you and I will provide the link as soon as I finish writing this.

    Cheers Chris, are you the only person on here!!

    I have IPOD dock vs CD changer & MFSW?

    Should that be coded as if its a CD Changer?

    No problemo - I love things like this so I always jump at them Were not a bad bunch, weekends most stay offline

    Yep the iPod dock simulates a CD changer so your coding should be 0301517

    Just to further on point 2 - you can search for your phone from the headunit as you probably know by pressing TEL and allowing the unit to find your device.

    Which BT loom did you end up going for?

    BT Unit is this one...

    Slightly concerned the bt unit might be faulty/not working!

    No no, once its coded you can do it via the headunit.

    RNSE's and BT modules all work together and the BT units dont usually go faulty ... It just needs coded.
