Headlight Switch replacement...

Hi all,

I recently bought a 2nd hand main headlight switch for my B6 MY2002. The original was badly scratched fingernail styley and so decided to replace it. I found one on good old fleabay and when it arrived it was in perfect nick...however after fitting it the headlights stay permanently on. In fact just plugging it in illuminates the side lights and that is with the key in the ignition but off and with the key out. When you turn the key it then turns the main beam headlights on...all of this is with the switch set to "0" or "off" turning the switch changes nothing as they're already on...

I've already checked the soft coding and it is set to the same as the original switch which is 00001 ie everything disabled and region set to "rest of world"...

Original part number: 8E0 941 531 01K
New part number: 8E0 941 531 A 01A

Does anyone have any suggestions as i'm borderline going out of my mind on this one!?

wrong switch

standard switch without auto lights 8e0 941 531 or drl

check your part numbers and post them on here to check

8E0 941 531 A 01A should be 8E0 941 531 A = with headlight activation so only supported by highline central electrics no good for you as you have lowline

Hi a8, basically it won't and will never work right? Simply enough I need an 8e0 941 531 with no additional lettering after this, or is there other ones that will suffice?

I've been hunting for a decent one for 8 weeks now and finally find one and get stitched up :-(

8E0 941 531 is the only one that will work. Suffix A is for auto headlights (as a8_tech said)

The headlight switch does come apart so you could just swap the facia over & keep your original rear section.
