How do all -looking for some advice on the radio in my Fiancees 2010 Leon 1.6tdi.
When she bought the car earlier this year, back in Northern Ireland, the radio worked perfectly, storing stations, displaying names and holding onto signal no problem at all. a month and a half ago she came across to yorkshire and the radio has no longer decided to show station names, even the BBC Stations and others which display perfectly on my Exeo's radio. It just shows the frequency. Also the RDS doesn't appear to work as she is having to re tune a few times on her reqular drive from Leeds to Bradford even to listen to Radio 1.
Took the car to a SEAT dealer today to have it looked at (Still under warranty) who took all day to swap the radio with one from another Leon which displayed radio station names etc perfectly.
When I rang for an update I was told this and secondly I was told that the 2010 leons have two radios, one which displays text, station names etc and one which display just the frequency, not the station name. They tell us that our radio is the basic one which does not display station names. (despite the fact it used to!)
Because there was no fault code generated, they refuse to replace the radio.
So a number of questions we would really appreciate answering:
    - Do 2010MY Leons have two types of standard radio (Ignoring sat navs etc - just am/ fm cd etc.)?
    - We were told that as the Leon was bought new in Northern Ireland it may be Northern Irish spec as opposed to UK Spec (I know there are different Spec in the South of Ireland but this is a UK Car) - Is there a Northern Irish Spec different to UK spec?
    - If we do turn out to have the basic radio, why would it have shown the station names and held RDS perfectly then suddenly decide not to once it comes to England??
Sorry for long winded post - just keen to sort this before I face another phone session with the service manager!
    Thanks
    Mafu

Northern Ireland is in the UK - so it has UK specced cars, the only differnece is ROI Spec compared to UK spec

You might need to press Scan or something similar on the unit.

Could you take a picture of the radio?

Thanks Chris - I knew that NI cars (Excluding Southern Imports) were UK Spec - It was the Seat Service Manager that didn't believe me.

We have tried all buttons, even turning RDS off and on, the radio is the type as shown at link (no pictures to hand sorry)

When sitting on driveway trying to scan through the stations the radio just keeop going round and round the frequency loop without finding anything. It's booked in with another Seat Dealer in the area who have agreed to look at the aerial for me and not just the radio unlike the first garage who refused to check the aerial. - If you're interested the service managers advice for me was to drive the car to Scotland and see if the radio works correctly up there and then let them know.

    Thanks again for the reply.

    Matt
