    Hi,
Need some advice for a rear dor lock/central locking.

At the moment I can't get the door open. The door is locked and no matter what I do it won't budge . Car is due for an MOT next month and I think that all doors have to be able to be opened.

I know there are some common faults such as the door loom wiring and solder joints in the lock. Problem is the door seems to be dead locked so can't be opened from inside or outside.
    VCDS is showing 2 faults:
    - 01038 - Central Locking Thermal Protection 35-00 - -
    - 00930 - Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222) 27-00 - Implausible signal

I have taken the door card off from the inside and B pillar trim so that I can try at get a look at the wiring. So far I can't see anything out of order.
Is there anything I can test with a multimeter on the door card (like the big mutiplug the connects to window motor) to see if there is power and signals actually going to the door lock?

Otherwise any ideas on how I can get the door open or resolve this? Can't get at the door lock without opening the door.

    thanks

Do some searching, a poster had this problem last year and managed to open the door by drilling one hole from the inside. I have the same problem (is yours an 05 Passat?) and sometimes can open the door if its a hot day, or the doors open rocker on the drivers door will work, or the inner handle on the offending door will release it. I know my problem is the tiny copper bars that go into the motor and it sits on, the movement of the motor causes arcing, I have cleaned them in the past but the problem returned in the winter.

Thanks Caldirun, I'll have a look into that. Mines a 2002 b5.5 passat. The lock didn't work when I bought it but then started again during the summer. Worked for about 8 months before failing again.
