    The alarm on my car is set to just flash the indicators when locking or unlocking it which is usually ok as I always check they've done so & the red light in driver's door is on. However... It was raining really heavily the other day & in my hurry to get indoors without getting too wet I pressed the key fob button as I was running, glancing briefly behind me to see the indicators flash, so all ok. Except in the morning I found the car totally unlocked, in my haste I'd actually pressed the "unlock" button
    So, I'm thinking of having the alarm "beep" function enabled to save any more stupidness on my part, only thing is I leave for work at 4am & don't want to upset the neighbours if it's going to be anything more than a slight "chirrup", a long high pitched "beeeeeeeep" wont leave me in their good books.
    Do you have yours enabled, will it wake the neighbours?

    I have this enabled on my A3 and A6, both do a single bleep when locking.

    However on my buddys MK5 Golf its more like a cough when locked, this is the same for the a4 and q5 courtesy cars Ive had out too.

    Theres no harm in enabling it and seeing what the outcome is then make your mind up from there

    Thanks for the replies, am taking it to a friend of a friend's friend (keep up!) near me who's got VCDS, said he'll enable it, I can try it there & then & if I don't like it will swap it back.

    Incase you haven't got instructions;

    Go to Module 46 - Comfort System

    Adaption

    Channel 07 - Locking Confirmation (Horn) - Dont worry its not the actual horn, just the beep.

    This is all the info Ross Tech provide but I'm sure if the value is changed to 1 then test and save it should work fine.

    You can also enable auto locking doors in channel 03 and auto unlock in channel 04.

    Thanks again, now have the thing enabled for locking confirmation only. There was an option for beep on both locking & unlocking and while it's not too loud I'll know if it's not unlocked when I try to get in! So the indicators only will flash when I leave for work at stupid 'o' clock thus no chance whatsoever of annoying the neighbours.

    Hmm, "beep" or "cough"?

    Well, it's neither really, more a high pitched "blip"!
