Audi extended warranty after buying privately?

Like the title says, I bought my 3.5 yr old a6 from a private dealer.

Do I have to have bought an approved used Audi to buy a warranty from them or do I have to go with a third party company?

I don't think you would have to buy from Audi as long as the car is serviced as per the Audi standards it shouldn't be a problem. Give em a call and find it for yourself. No harm in trying. Not like you have anything to loose and if it doesn't work with Audi Warranty then there's always the third party option.

I got a quote from Audi and they want 1200£!

Yikes, that's a lot. Think I might go with warranty direct or just not bother. Has anyone used warranty direct? Not sure whether it would be better to put £400 in the bank and wait till something goes wrong. Because of my mileage warranty direct will only put 50% towards parts.

Think that's why it is this high with Audi themselves too. I would say go with third party company. I had mine with motorway direct for my mazda. It was on 135k when head gasket went but they still paid for majority of the work. i had to pay for the diagnostics and labour charges involved in taking the head off to pressure test it.

Felt reasonable enough given that the job was coming upto about £1100, i paid about 300 in all. I was only paying about £26 per month on that one. Give them a try.

Smickers, I'm paying £700 for comprehensive cover with key protection, mot protection and audi rescue on a 3.0 TDi quattro with 71k and no yearly mileage limit with no excess to pay on claims with Audi.

Paid for itself last year 3x over and this year its paid already for itself.

I think the higher price quoted for your car would be cos of privately bought n maybe not having full Audi service history perhaps. Other than that I don't see why they would quote you this much. Has you car been serviced elsewhere previously?

It doesn't go by service history. I was never asked if and when the car had been serviced.

As long as the car is under 10 years old and under 100k on the clock then the price still applies.
