seatbelt warning chime sounding with seatbelt fastened

Hi

We are wondering has anyone else had this problem and what was done to resolve it. After moving off in the car with our seat belts on after a few minutes the seatbelt warning chimes will sound and dashboard light comes on but then goes off again and it does not recur the rest of the day anyone have any ideas why ??

you have a fault with one of the front seatbelt fasteners. Running a scan should tell you which one. The wiring can break giving you a false message. but the only way to know is to do the scan first and check what fault code is reported.

We have had the car scanned and cannot see any fault codes for the seatbelts etc.

Sounds daft but is it usually driven without a passenger in the front? If so, does the driver place items on the seat, like a handbag etc?

I only ask because I place lots of things on my passenger seat when driving, and sometimes it registers with the car so it thinks there is someone sat on the seat without a seatbelt on!!!

Just a thought.

Thanks for the suggestion Anthea, but it seems to do it even when both front seats are occupied or not, I am wondering if it is maybe one of the buckles with a dodgy connection as it does not do it all the time

thats what it is..or the circuit that detects seat occupancy. Not sure if they are related. You need to get a pro to look at it.

Hi

We have worked through various things on this defect and pinned it down to a faulty seatbelt buckle fastener. Just need to get it replaced but I find if I sit back in the seat and not move the fastener it does not chime I have it down to a fine art now lol might put myself forward for an Olympic sport in it lol

Hi, one day I left car park got seatbelt chime I thought I forgot to fasten seatbelt but it was done up so I stopped car in convenient place and repeatedly fastened and unfastened seatbelt and it solved problem for me... been now about month problem not reoccurred...
