Do I have Bluetooth on MMI High?

Good evening,

I have just purchased a 2008 (08) S-Line with MMI high. The question is do i have bluetooth as when I push the TEL button is says telephone not installed. I do not have any cradle under the arm rest.

If not, can I retrofit BT?

I believe if you have 3G then the TEL just needs activating.

I think you have 2G MMI as 3G was 2009 model year and will need to retro fit bluetooth which will cost typically £300 to £450 and yes is possible.

Could you post a pic of any screen in your car to make sure what system we are talking about. I fitted a Fiscon kit to my A3, one is also avaliable for the A6. Not sure what price though.

Fiscon acts the same way as the Audi kit, but usually cheaper.

2008 cars will have 2G MMI if A4 or A6 (although some 2009 model year A6 ie face lifted cars registered 2008 will also have 3G MMI)

Have had Fiscon kit's fitted to several cars with 2G MMI although would use the Audi supplied parts if not too much more

I am working away, so a picture is difficult - the unit is definitely the High version (full colour) and I can add names, telephone numners, address details - when I push the name button. Seems strange that you can add that detail but cant use the info (numbers) to dial out.

I cannot see a Bluetooth option or setting in the menu so guess I dont have it.

The car is June 2008, so I gues from what you say it will be 2G and need the retro fit kit.

I think I have the same version as you (March 2008, full colour etc). I tried various things for the first couple of months without much success - including getting the data into the Names, but not getting any phone access. I think that point is simply the Names is stored in the car's memory, not the phone - when connected, it all transfers across and is then stored in the car's memory as well.

I did eventually manage the connection - and many apologies if I am missing your point in the following ramble - which was simply accessing the car via bluetooth from the phone, and not the other way round as the manual describes. Key in ignitition, maybe even turn to charging (can't remember...) and then search for bluetooth devices on your phone. After 30 seconds or so it came up, then pressing the 'telephone' button revealed all was there...

I had the same thing with my A6 2.7TDI on a 56 plate 2006, I was going to be purchasing a old nokia phone to fit in the cradle until I visited Mark, (MFGF) to have the car linked up to his VAGCOM and when we got chatting he mentioned the car should have bluetooth fitted, all you have to do is search for bluetooth devices on your phone within a couple on minutes of starting the engine and there it was the bluetooth connection showed up, saved me buying another phone

Still needs bluetooth to be fitted (GSM Phone Prep) as a factory option and there are many cars out there without. Just because a A6 has Colour MMI doesn't automatically include bluetooth. If when pressing the Tel button it states "Telephone Not Installed" it means exactly that.

With an A6 2004 to 2008 it will have the blank for a cradle under the arm rest

The OP states his car is June 2008, this means MMI 2G is fitted so the bluetooth module needs fitted, mic installed and the system coded.

I have Bluetooth 'Low' in my car without the cradle in the armrest.
