    Evening all,
Just been confirmed my ABS PUMP has failed! checked via VAG-COM and the message is....18259 Power trian data bus :missing message from ABS controller,
    P1851-35-10 Intermittent.
Now my question is if I buy a replacement from a salvage yard then there seem to be many different variations of this unit. In that I mean, simular looking units with the same initial part numbers ie, 8E0 614 111 **, where the ** denotes a letter.
So can I replace mine with a simular unit or must it match my number and letters exactly??? also there are codes underneath the electronic module, must these match exactly aswell????, the chances of finding a unit with both numbers, I find is more than difficult.
Your help and knowledge is a great help.....
    Reagrds....Daidub

that is a difficult question as you say there are so many types of units and basically what fits one vehicle might not suit another, the VIN and PR codes determine which unit you need, can you supply the VIN and gearbox auto or manual and we can maybe find out what you can look for

On the lucky side you will only need the electronic controller from the new/replacement pump and that can be done without touching the ABS pump or tampering with the brake pipes ! All you need is the pump with exactly the same part number then you remove the control unit by removing the 6 torx screws and replace the faulty on off the car... Do you have ESP or ASR ? If you have a FWD audi a6 i have a good working pump with ASR, if you have ESP it won't work unfortunately ! What's the pump part no ? Cheers.

If it's FWD then it should have a button on the dash (next to the cupholder) which sais ASR on it and when pressed it brings a triangle in a circle light on the dash. I have the same part off a car i break for parts...

Actual part number for the ABS controller is 0 273 004 358, the bosch part number allways has 10 digits ! This will fit all cars VAG front wheel drive cars with Anti Slip Regulation ...
