Anyone done this, I've gone one failure 'Drivers side, first one on the corner' - cannot bend my hand to either release the connector or remove the sensor.

Tried removing the lower bumper area (the bit that sits between the exhausts) - held by for screws - but then cannot work out how to release it from the bumper?

So can it be done, without removing the bumper?

    Thanks - rob

JCDUB recently fitted parking sensors to his A6 - see https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...arking-sensors

It would be worth PMing him to see how he fitted them

    Hi

The bumper needs to be removed in order to get at the sensors. There is a safety beam that runs across the back of the car that will stop you accessing the sensors. The bumper can be removed in 20 min. You'll need a deep 10mm socket a small extension and ratchet, 10mm spanner, Phillips screwdriver, and a torx size 15 (similar to an Allen key)
So remove the two silver floor catches in the boot using you're philips screw driver. Then lift the boot liner and undo the two plastic nuts that secure the plastic that sits over the catch for the boot . Once done grab the trim from the top corner and give it a quick pull and the clips will pop out, then the same on the other side. Then you bend the metal clip enough to get the side trim over it. Then you need to get a flat screwdriver in the edge of the trim where the seal runs by the trim you'll locate 3 clips close to each other, use your screwdriver to pop them. The opposite side is the same. You just need to bend this trim enough to get access the 2 nuts located in there that secure the bumper. On the drivers side you'll also have to remove the jack and the holder first to get access to the 2 nuts. You'll need the deep socket to get them. There is a nut located right and left recessed in the metal frame at the back of the boot where you removed the plastic trim. So you'll have removed 6 nuts in total! Your nearly there. Remove the 3 screws just behind each rear wheel and the screws under the bumper. That's it everything securing the bumper is now removed. Grip the bumper behind the rear wheel and pull the bumper back, it will come away fairly easily and the same on the other side. That it, free to take off, just be careful of the wires running to the sensors.
If you need more help pm me.
