We picked up our Audi A6 2.7tdi S line yesterday from the car dealer and after driving for about 60 miles, the engine management light came on and we called out the AA to come check the car over, as we were unsure what the fault was with just collecting the car.

After doing a diagnostic on the car it came up with the following fault codes
P2008 intake manifold runner control bank 1
P2011 intake manifold runner control bank 2
The guy from the AA was unsure what can be causing the fault codes as he had never come across the codes before, does anyone know what can be the causes of these codes coming up.

    Thanks for any help
    Tony

thats unlucky mate. Just like kite said, take the car back. It is an expensive issue and you dont need to splash out on the first day you get the car.

Take it back. I got mine covered under Audi warranty and I was told the price would be the higher band of £2k if I were paying from my own pocket.

Where did you buy the car from, Audi dealer, independant etc? If Audi, they give 1 years Approved Used warranty on the cars.

    Good luck getting it fixed.

We bought the car from Toothill trade sales in Mansfield. Have already contacted them and they are saying contact us on monday when the mechanic is back in. And they are saying do not worry it will be sorted no matter what.

Well if they get it sorted out for you then fair enough but do your research on this subject and check what solution is the best way forward and also get in touch with your local audi dealer to ask for solution. If its the independent dealer who would be getting it done out of his pocket then I bet that he will be willing to cut any corners he can to save costs. But you need to make sure the fix is solid and reliable not the one to just get you out of the warranty period mate. After all cars like these are meant to be pride and joy for us owners and you want the problems fixed not just averted for a lil while. It might be something that a few of our veteran members might be able to shed more light on and give you some pointers. This way you can actually challenge the dealer if he would be going for a cheap fix. Hope it gets sorted properly.

Dont know for sure but this has to be something with the valves that regulate the air flow to the engine. In some cases they dont have any problems apart from bring on the engine management light but then you have to consider the possibility that EML light could be on for some other reason as well which could not do without resolving straight away. Having it checked is the best way to go about it. It might cause irregularities with the emission controls as its all tied down with the EGR system to control engine power and torque. have a look at the thread on swirl flaps on the forum it does give out some more explanation on the issue. might help you.

You can get one side fixed cheaply, as there's one bank up on eBay. This is the first time I have seen one of these on eBay for a while. There's a 3.0l 2008+ left hand set of swirls flaps been around for a while, nobody wants to buy.
I need one but I can't afford it right now but I hope someone on the forum can make use of it..
