Hello - I know this has been touched on before - but I'm still in need of some advice - so any help would be very much appreciated.
The heater on my B6 is only blowing out of the face vents but no others (Feet or windscreen) - the actual amount of air coming out is fine - just the direction. Bought a Haynes but still confused
I know that the blower motor is accessed by taking the glove box off but are the flap motors under there as well? In the Haynes it mentions a "Central Flap Control Motor" but this involves taking off the facia (according to the manual) which looks way beyond my ability/nerve.
Again any help would be very much appreciated
    Cheers

Depends if yours is climatic control. If manual see my other questions and posts on air flap distribution, I was also a novice and had no confidence in removing the front panel. Has the car had retro fits around the HU, the radio ? this disturbs the bowden cable which connect your control to the heater flap assembly.

    Thanks for the reply
The stereo has been taken out (and the heater control panel was pulled out slightly) to fit an MP3 converter box behind the stereo. Saying that I think the direction of the heat wasn't brilliant before this happened - but it def appears worse now.
The car is a manual heating A/C (not climatronic)
Where is the flap motor? And will it be just a case of re-connecting the Bowden cable and/or could the motor itself need fixing.

Any help is much appreciated - I just want as much info as poss b4 i start - otherwise it'll be left with wires sticking out and then its def ear-ache from the Mrs - gawd bless her!

I'd be interested in how you fitted the mp3 with colour codes pls, I have a rd500 HU. Seems your problem started when your heater controls were pulled out. Cable is not locked in any way at the heater end, so it will always pull out with the controls. Have a look at my earlier post link below when I didn't understand my problem. Else pm me.

Thanks for that link - very useful - I still think i could have a problem with the flap motor itself as it wasn't working that well b4 i pulled the stereo/heater controls out - I'll have a go at putting the bowden cable back in first and then see - just in case there is a problem apart from the cable - where is the flap motor located? Is it accessed by taking the glove box off?
Re the Mp3 connection - I bought a Connects2 aux adapter - and it just plugs in behind the stereo where the CD changer plug goes - I don't know anything about colour codes - it was quite simple - I had to remove a Parrot blue tooth cable bundle as i needed to create space for the connects2 box - I replaced the mini jack lead supplied for a longer one because i fed it through the ash tray at the bottom (after drilling hole) as the ash tray seems the best place for my mp3 player - still can't quite believe that VW never fitted an aux socket on a car which was first built in 05 - but there you go.
Once again thanks for your help - give me a shout if you need any more info on the mp3 'ting
