im thinking it could be the egr valve clogged up the car is a audi a4 1.9tdi engine code BKE 54 plate 130500 on clock is it easy to clean or best to replace the part number is 038131501AD is this electronic operated because my car has a egr cooler on it as well but the egr valve looks totally different to normal vacuum operated ones thanks

i did mine a little while ago because i was told too by a mechanic who noticed oil on the side of the airbox intake pipe, to be honest he never said why i should do it but it would be a good idea because the wasted oil made the engine bay dirty, easy enough to do just need a little patiance and small fingers, i found 5mm of coke buildup inside the body and it took a while to clean out but worth the effort. refitted in no time, without exagerating the difference it made to the cars performance was incredible, better pedal responce and throttle responce, much much better

I would have thought that fault would have logged a fault code, you can solder the wire.just make sure the ignition is switched off

Is the EGR valve the circular shaped item on the left-hand side of the engine (at the top) with a plundger going into it?

the egr is next to the anti shudder valve, it is the round shiny thing with a vaccuum pipe going to it.
