Has anyone changed the blue lighting as found on the instument dials of my 55 plate B5.5?

I much prefer the soft red glow that is present on the radio/cd section and as was on my old A3.

I would hope it would involve just swapping bulbs but perhaps thats a bit naive of me.

    Thanks

Hi I had to change the bulbs on my A4 and it was a very easy job, it took approx 15 minutes to do and that included putting the new bulbs into the dash as well as taking the dash out and reconnecting.
I just bought new orange ones myself, the reason for changing was that I couldn't see the mileage on my car, I think if its anything like the audi then you will have to buy about 10 bulbs just to be on the safe side, but they are very cheap, I got mine from auto bulbs direct.

!5 minutes is very good, considering the air-bag, steering-wheel, bits of trim
and instrument cluster need to be removed and replaced.

If your taking the steering wheel and airbag off your obviously doing it wrong.
You lower the steering wheel to the lowest level and unclip the steering wheel surround, then undo the two screws that hold the dash in position and pull the dash out, it takes about a two minutes.
I really cant work out why you would take the steering wheel and airbag off.
Ps that is the way I did it and someone put a post up on here on how to do it maybe its different on the Audi to a VW.

TBH, I thought the LEDs were soldered onto the PCB as there are no bayonet bulb holes on the back as you see on older cars..
EDIT, yes I found a photo of the PCB and they are SMDs soldered on.
