Just had mine done at a trusted indie.
The oil is expensive and 'special' I believe.doesn't take long to do though.
Cost me around £100,was done as part of a full service.

I belive that the oil is added at various temps strictly monitored if someone gets it wrong then your box will become multi tragic. Check if an indipendant can do this if so and the price is right use them ..Good Luck

I would suggest if the garage has the right equipment to do the job( pumps/ fittings etc)then they should have the know how regarding refilling at correct temp etc.

I had the oil changed on mine and Bradford Auid wanted £500 but that also included a 40k service, in the end I rang other dealers and Bradford mysteriously reduced the total cost for the service and oil change to £395.00. SO shop around.

Had mine done at 80k a month ago at Harold Wood Audi. Stand alone job as out of sync with the service and it's one of those things that reading this forum has persuaded me not to put off......

£190 all in. An indie garage could have done it for £150 but there is something about the right temp when filling. A necessary evil, and if it means my box will last til 150k, so be it.

sounds a bit high. I paid £180 couple of months back. But I would always use dealer for this job. There is much pain to be had with the Multitronic box - just look around this forum. And I want to leave Audi no excuse if mine goes wrong.

I bought an Audi A4 Avant 2.7 tdi s line today and have been ringing around to find out prices for a major service. The multitronic gearbox service is also due as it,s 84k and done at 40k intervals. My local Audi dealer quoted me £330 for the service and £146 for the gearbox ( told these were discounted prices?)
I came across an indie that I found reccommended on the forums and gave them a ring. I was quoted £290 for the major service and £221 for the gearbox ( oil & filter = £120 ) After chatting to the indie and listening to how he goes about his work using an engine flush and fuel flush before filling putting clean oil back in the engine and generally talking about his business I have made my mind up to go down this road. He was very surprised at the main dealer quote for the gearbox and I told him it was discounted from £199. He asked me did they figure in the price of a new filter for the gearbox which is fitted after the sump is taken off. I was not sure of the procedure the main dealer uses but would be very surprised if a main dealer would drain the oil to take off the sump to get at the filter only to put that oil back in ( which must be the case at £140) any thoughts on this?
Like I said I am going to go with someone who explains how he goes about doing the job. He is fully booked for ten days which says a lot for his business.

Since the oil change on a multitronic is a fairly regular job I wouldn't have though the sump would be removed.
its not like on a car with a sealed for life gearbox where the owner decides to do a change anyway and clean every thing up.

The multitronic has to be done properly and at the right intervals but that's all I reckon
