Audi A6 C5 Towing Weights

Hey guys, new to the forum and looking into a few tow car options. I've posted this question in a few other forums so if there is no objection I'll just duplicate my post here.

"I was just wondering if I could pick your brains a bit more and ask if you know for sure the exact published MAX towing weights for any of these cars (below). Obviously I'm planning to tow and whilst now I know they are all capable of towing alot, I ideally need to know the exact amounts so I can look into trailers and the maximum gross weight the cars are legally allowed to pull. My main worry would be with the trailer's PLATED weight exceeding the car's MAX towing weight (to keep legal).. whether the trailer's actual weight is over or not (I do intend to keep within the 85% rule).

Audi A6 C5 - 1.9 TDI (130)
Audi A6 C5 - 2.5 TDI (180)

Also perhaps any of these VAG cars aswell..

Passat B5 - 2.5 TDI (150) V6
Passat B5 - 1.9 TDI (115)
Passat B5.5 - 1.9 TDI (130)

Audi A6 C4 - 2.5 TDI (140) V6

I don't mind whether they are Estates or Saloons, and Quattro/4Motions or not as long as anyone can specify and shed a bit of light. Finding it very hard to get hold of any of this info on the web without contradiction, I figure any of you who might know for sure after owning one or currently owning one would be the best sources of info "

From my genuine owners manual:
130 Braked trailer, Upto 8% Gradient is 1800kg, upto 12% gradient is 1600kg
180 Braked trailer, Upto 8% Gradient is 1900kg upto 12% gradient is 1800Kg

Thanks for the reply dude. Are these estates or saloons? And are either of them quattros, or are the quattros different?

Only as Parkers lists the 180 (2.5 TDI) as 2100kg if it's an Avant Quattro, so I'm guessing there is a slight variation?

First things first: Towing @ 85% is a guideline not a rule.

To tow at 85% your trailer/caravan weight should not exceed 1575kg fully loaded. Depending on what type of towbar you have ie: detachable towball or fixed towbar, you also need to make sure the weight on the towball is not more than 70kg.

I'm aware of all that, not really concerned with it at the moment and more interested in knowing what all the different cars are capable of, so I can choose one and look into it all in a bit more detail. This will include nose and tail weights, although this will have alot to do with how the trailer I'm towing is specifically loaded at the time? Also, that figure of 1575kg you said I shouldn't exceed, what car is that for? As I'm looking at loads of possibilities, all that will have different kerb weights and therefore different 85%'s.. ?

The figure I quoted is for the A6-C5 Quattro Avant SE.

As i repplied to your post on uk passats earlier, a6 v6 tdi quattro avant has a max. towing weight of 2100kg the 85% does not apply. The 180bhp AKE engined one has gearbox oil cooler + bigger brakes as standard. Get a good braked trailer and you'll have no problems whatsoever... I towed with my old quattro 180bhp more than that, the only problem i had was the sport suspension was making the car sit too low at the back- get a set of springs assistors if you wish. Mine was ok but i have fitted a dual ABT Sportsline exhaust and the tailpipes were touching when going over speed bumps, that's the only reason i bought a allroad- because of the self leveling air suspension ! The allroad does 35mpg either loaded or not...
