    Hi

My built in Audi Nav unit (RNS-e) in my 2005 S4 has gotten lost....

It has worked fine since I had the car, but yesterday going to RIAT it never latched on to a signal and so had no idea where it was.

Couldn't find a reset button or anything similar.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in anticipation!

Could be a failed GPS antenna. Check how many satellites the unit is recieving.

If it has gone, replace it with one from Ebay for £10.

To replace the original Audi item - tricky and expensive as you'd need to remove a lot of trim to get it out.

Buy one of these from Ebay and stick it under the dashboard behind the glovebox. I've done this to mine and it works 100%. Takes ten minutes to fit.

Ah right, thanks - looks cheap enouhgh... presumably has to plug in to back of the Nav unit? Sorry if this is obvious, I've never had the need to pull teh dash apart..

Yes, just plugs in at the back. Only goes on one way so you can't go wrong. You'll need 4 removal keys to get the unit out of the dash. Available from Audi, Halfords, Ebay etc etc.

Just drop the glovebox out (a few 8mm bolts) and stick it under the dash (under a plastic section of dash not metal) and test it before you put the glovebox back up. It's very easy to do - Don't pay someone to do it.

Read post #6 that I made above. You need 4 removal keys, available from the sources I mentioned.

You could try resetting the unit - turn it on then press and hold the Info and Setup buttons for more than 10 seconds.
