I got one of these of ebay, £8.95, it came with it's software. Installed the driver fine and a little tinkering with the software it is now the full licensed version, it states this in the about and auto scan works, plus other blanked out buttons.

That's the preamble, now the problem.

I did an auto scan and it returned a few results - results below.

What puzzled me is when i checked on individual componants a lot just came back with the error message - 'interface could not be found'. This is puzzling since it clearly is being recognized, but the auto scan results plus you can here the car making noises and from time to time it will ting (scared me witless first time i heard it).

In addition, when I run the ODB2 test, it just came back with - 'this car is not iso/obd2 compatible), and yet, again, it reads certain codes.

I know full well the software is compatible with the audi a4 b5 since you have to set it to this before you can do the scan. My car is from sept 1996 when all cars by this time where OBD2.

So I'm wondering if anybody knows about these things. Whether it's the cable or some form of settings I am missing, for example run the controller modual finder in the main menu before doing anything else.

I just read that VAG COM scan and OBD2 scan are two different things, but the OBD2 scan should still work, unless it's just a money making thing and none do, I read this in the manual:

**Note:

• There are three different hardware standards for OBD-II. Interface Adapters that work with VAG-COM only support one of these, ISO-9141. The ISO-9141 hardware layer is used by most OBD-II compatible cars produced world-wide except U.S. Ford and GM products. This test is useless on U.S. Ford or GM vehicles.

• OBD-II scan tools use completely different protocols than those used by the proprietary VAG scan-tools that VAG-COM emulates. The results of this test have nothing to do with VAG-COM working with any VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda vehicle.

• No VW or Audi products prior to model year 1996 are OBD-II compliant! Please note that most vehicles sold outside of the US are NOT OBD-II compatible, and even US-market TDI's are not OBD-II compatible.**

Thanks
