Morning all, I've got a long beep coming from the car when I put it in reverse so I'm guessing one or more of the factory fitted rear parking sensors needs replacing. I've looked at the threads here and it seems to be a quick and easy job but not found any instructions. Can anyone help?

Also, where's the best place to get an official Audi replacement and will they need to be sprayed and lacquered or can I just provide the colour code of the paintjob? (misano red).

I have VAG COM so will plug it in to get an error code, assuming there is none though, is it just a matter of cleaning the sensors? (car hasn't been washed for a while )

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Mr Horse, it's always a good idea to clean the car and sensors first ,but an easy way to check for the dud item, and this is how I did my check, is to select reverse with ingition on,,,,,,,,DO NOT START ENGINE,,, IGNITION ONLY ON.
With the ignition only switched on and reverse selected you kneel down at the rear and place your ear to each sensor, the item or items which do not emit a sound, ( clicking/pulsing ) is/are failed
I believe others on the forum have purchased a painted sensor and self fitted for less than £100

I replaced a rear on mine a couple of weeks ago, I had a thread running.
VCDS the car to check which one is faulty, I brought a new one from Ebay, a guy in Poland has them, half the price of the dealer
My local chipsaway man took the sensor, sprayed and laquered it for £20.
I managed to remove mine without taking the bumper off, Using the A8tech "wiggle" method....

I don't know that one pal, but maybe the upset in the " parking system " from the rear sensor can upset the fronts, please enter the experts.

    Hi dodip

From me old greying memory Front & Rear Sensors are separate and should not effect each other.
After several years being on a a good starting point is locate connector unplug a light spray of WD40 then plug connector block back together.
Ensure all sensors out surfaces are clean
    Use VCD to read codes

before replacing the sensor which isn't working, i'd be inclined to check the wiring to it or at the very least swap two sensors over to see if the problem moves. if it moves then the problem is likely to be sensor, if not its likely to be wiring or parking sensor control unit.

Hi I'm a newbie here so pls excuse my dumbness. I've got a N/S outer sensor gone, got the replacement ready to go, but I'm being a bit dense here I think. What exactly is the A8tech 'wiggle method' ? Or am I safer to remove the bumper?

    ps it's on a A6 C6 3.2 Quattro saloon

Thanks in anticipation - David J
