cheaper option than what exactly ?
as far i'm i'm aware, the 150 has a larger turbo, and different injectors, but don't quote me,i'm not 100% about the injectors, otherwise the same block and head i believe,

so how come you can map a 130 to 165 without changing anything mechanically?

in the same way that you can map a 150 to a whole lot more!
changing fuel input and timing thus spooling turbo up earlier,it's more complicated than that no doubt, but that's the basics, remember though, it's the torque that gets developed, rather than the horsepower that makes the drive better,

yea i understand that im not trying to get huge results here.. otherwise id buy something faster to begin with. Im just asking wether the engines are the same or not and if it is possible to fit a 150 ecu on a 130 engine... Theoretically i see no problem in doing so i just want to make sure

It is fairly easy to remap a 130 to 150 using cheap chinese hardware and a bit of knowledge from a chip tuning website. If you just stick a 150 ecu on a130 the car won't start, so you will need to work out how to code in the different ecu.

i need the ecu because mine is faulty.. so thought i might as well get a 150.. are you sure? im pretty sure someone i know has done it a vauxhall (but the same ecu not a more powerfuly mapped one..)

I have not tried swapping a 130 ecu for a 150 ecu for the simple reason that I know the map contents are not the same. You can't take a 130 ecu off and swap it with another 130 ecu and be sure the car will start. You have to have the exact hardware and software match. Even then you have to code the ecu to the car. Try and see what happens. My guess is the car won't start. The ecu contains a huge amount of data.
