"That old chestnut" springs to mind here.
First thing is first, get a code read on her as there is 1000s of faults and this may not be the same one as the previous time

    Hi daniel,

Like yourself i,ve had similar problems with the intake manifold flaps and motor, see my scan below.

008200 - Intake Manifold Flap; Bank 1: Electrical Malfunction
    P2008 - 002 - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00100010
    Fault Priority: 0
    Fault Frequency: 254
    Mileage: 144411 km
    Time Indication: 0
    Freeze Frame:
    RPM: 903 /min
    Torque: 124.8 Nm
    Speed: 0.0 km/h
    Voltage: 14.06 V
    Duty Cycle: 8.7 %
    Duty Cycle: 80.9 %
    Duty Cycle: 80.9 %
    Readiness: 0 1 0 0 0

I did a bit of research on here, and as a result, found the manifold motor on bank1 was faulty and didn,t work, the fix in my case depending on audi dealership, came to anything from £570 to £750, not cheap.
After reading my fault, i noticed the frequency of 254 probably indicated the fault was present when i purchased the car some 6 months earlier, just my luck it was out of warranty.
Anyway with the flap inoperable for 6 months or longer, i get no emissions light and the car as just passed its MOT and emissions test no problems, the car seems responsive with no problems.

If you take your engine cover off you should be able to see the motors actuating on startup, one of the motors i think orientated slightly different to the other, in my case i can here at least bank2 motor working with ignition on but engine not cranked, obviously bank1 no longer works.

To finish, my advice to you is take the car back to where you purchased it and get them to sort it out, it could be an expensive problem otherwise.
Failing that ask them to show you the procedure they used to rectify the fault, i doubt they can.

cheers for info mate, the guy is paying for the work to be done, what was strange is it having codes for both sides same problem when bank 2 has already been changed, i just took it to my mechanic and he had a closer look and the reason why bank to is coming up faulty is because when it was changed they only changed the motor then fitted the plastic part to the other side (bank1)

so now iam going to have the full new unit fitted to bank 1 then just the plastic part off the bank1 fitted to bank 2 as its (newish) so then its all new both sides. you think this is a good idea?

and anyone think that defo why bank to is still coming up faulty because they only changed the motor and not the full thing?

I don't think the motor is available on its own from Audi.

Hi again daniel, i have a theory why you have a problem with both bank1 and bank2, although as you state one was re-newed.
When i first had a problem with my inlet manifold motor, i posted on this forum hoping i could just replace the motor, a quick fix if you like,
But as with most things in life, its not that easy.
Anyway, it seems a change of motor is the least of your worries, you then need a special vag tool to set-up the motor parameters, otherwise it throws a fault, if the new unit was simply installed, it may just not be set correctly and causing your issue,
I don,t know if the setting tool is a physical tool (machanical) or a piece of software thats needs intergrating into the vehicle.
I know Crasher a well respected forum member and independant vag specialist used to send this perticular job to audi, who have the correct tools, this may now have changed, it was quite an old post. maybe if he see,s this topic he may comment .

Sorry i can,t be more helpful, and i do hope you get your car sorted, keep us posted.

One last thing, try posting in the B7forum, it gets many more visits from forum members, this section can be a bit deserted at times.

    Hi daniel,
Do you mean a tool to dismantle the arm from the motor, or something else.
The indy i visited simply popped the arm off using a flat screwdriver, i think you can then withdraw the motor and change.
I,ll do some more research on the forum, and if you are right and the motor needs no specialist tool to make it workable, i,ll change mine myself, i have a full version of vcds, so have no issues with resetting the fault.
