I want to improve my new 2.0 tdi (140) CR BMT when it arrives in the next few weeks.

What do people think of these

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CHIP-TUNING-BO...item3365a3e9a0

I dont want to actually have the car remapped really due to insurance hassle. this could be added and then taken off at service / warranty time.

It seems to be not like the 50p resistors that some offer as a tuning box.

    Everyones thoughts welcome............................

To be honest, I wouldnt fit a tuning box either in or out of warranty. If I were thinking of tuning my performance I'd go for a remap.

the woman is indeed very attractive, but the 'tuning box', to me anyway, sounds like a rip off.

I'm in the wrong job. I ought to be packaging resistors up in pretty black boxes, calling them italian and advertising them with pretty ladies.

of course, you'd have to overcharge too, just so people don't assume it's the usual cheap tat.

What never ceases to amaze me is how people are prepared to take delivery of a £20k+ vehicle and then fit a tuning box that's cost less than £100 to said vehicle.

<shakes head> I wouldn't fit that crap to my polo let alone a brand new a4

    I am hearing a resounding...........NO!!!!

Saved me spending £70 and making a 20K smoke bomb.

The problem with a remap is the insurance side of things, i can see our MD's face when i say can you tell our insurance company i have had my car mapped.

I thought the box way would have made it easier come service / warranty repair time and £70 (posted) is cheaper than £300 for a ST3 style box where you can go back to standard.

Looks like it will be staying standard.

The fact that the car although my car for three years, its not actually my hard earned paying for it. this makes the thought of using 20p resistors easier to contemplate. When you actually look at the advert it does make out as though this is not a box with a couple of resistors worth £1.00 and is actually something that some electronics buff has developed.

I might actually buy one and let my dad (electronics genius makes his own speakers / valve amps etc etc) give it a post mortum. We will see exactly what is going on inside.

Looks like a got blinkered by the pretty ladies

there's a reason those £300 ST3's are £300 and not £70 - I'll be in a similar position to you in about 8 weeks, but I still wouldn't consider fitting a cheap box to it - if the car breaks and you're found to be responsible, company car or not, you'll be left with the bill
