VW Servicing Garage in manchester

I am looking to get my Passat 1.9 TDi (51) serviced and to get diagnostic check done on it, as well as checking out a 'knocking' sound everytime i turn left.

i am looking for advice/info of any reputable, reliable and honest garages who you guys have maybe used in the past or know of. I dont want to get Mugged off by some guy who charges an arm and a leg just for a service and diag check, and then tells me that i need a new blah blah blah etc. you know what i mean people.

i live in rochdale, and so anyone in the manchester, rochdale, oldham area. also huddersfield or halifax.

i dont want to take to VW dealers, as a) they charge too much, b) i have heard they are not neccessary the best. a freind of mine had to pay over £300 for a service. I refuse to pay that kind of rate.

Any help/advice would be very much appreciated.

cmon people, so there is no one on this site who has used a vw garage that they can recommend in lancs/yorkshire region?

if you find the statement "reputable, reliable and honest garages" contradictory please also say so

I'd rate audi motorsport in Great Harwood. Did a good job diagnosing my handling problems after another garage failed.

My local Autocenter ( now Halfords - same guys new paint job..) has done sterling work for me over the years - Passat 130 tdi, Peugeot 405 td, Polo 1 ltr. Give them a try

Just wanna ping this thread to keep it up there. I have looked thru the recommendations section and it just doesn't seem to be that current.....unfortunately Dave BVR has stopped his door to door otherwise life would be a whole lot simpler for me!

I am also looking for a good VAG specialist on the back roads of manchester. More specifically the cheadle/stockport area for me...shout out if you know one as i'm sure they will appreciate the kudos of being mentioned on this site

Try Broadbent Autos, off Oldham Road, Failsworth. VAG specialists. Have been using them for my A4 for six years. Very straight, very competent, good value.
