    Hi there,

I have changed the brake pads on my A4 tonight and now my ABS and ESP lights are permantly on. Has anyone got any ideas what this could be please? Or is it the case of a simple reset after changing the pads and pad sensors?

    Thanks very much

    Kyle

You've most likely dislodged one of the abs sensors around the hub, they're quite sensitive, take the wheels off and check the air gap between the sensor and its pick up ring around the hub,you may need a scan to determine which one is faulty.

Thanks for that! Is it likely the ABS sensor will be damaged or just dislodged are the delicate? What should the gap be please?

If it's being plugged in, you can use measuring blocks in the ABS module to show all four wheel speeds as you drive slowly (upto 10 mph) in a straight line. If one is different to the others, that'll be the faulty one. The ABS module picks this up as a fault.

So then ... time for an update,

Plugged my car in today and a fault came up with the front right ABS/speed sensor, seems like an easy fix thank god. So im thinking for the sake of 50 quid just replacing it to solve the problem. But before i do does anyone know if it could be anything else other than a knackered sensor?

    Thanks for all the help!

It could be a broken wire.
