    Hi just sorted my car out with the no start problem (replacment starter motor) how ever the heater plug light has started flashing since then any ideas?

    Check your brake lights - do all three work? Oddly, the flashing glow plug light can be due to a faulty brake pedal switch.

    yep all brake lights work, but still have the flashing light. i have a vagcom lead i bought off e-bay last year but have upgraded my laptop and didnt down load vag com until yesterday with the new vcd programe i cant seem to get it to connect through my lead so i am assuming the new version wont support my old interface lead.... any suggestions?

    For non-RossTech leads, ie. no-name eBay ones, you have to use the VCDS-Lite version. More info here. I'm still on the old version for dumb interfaces (409.1), so can't help you more on the new one. I assume the drivers for the lead are installed ok?

    hold on car was fine before battery change and starter motor change ie no light flashing ?
    check all the wires are fitted correctly and good contact also just check all the fuses hopefully helps fella

    Sorted got my cheap lead and vag com lite to work whoop whoop will post how i did it on another thread when i have got time ....... ok checked vagcom and the reason the glow plug light was flashing is because the imobiliser stopped the engine from starting reset the fault code and bingo no more flashing light on the down side though i have a duff abs sensor on the front lol oh well here we go again
