Hi All, I recently hit a patch of black ice and kerbed my driver side wheel quite hard although i was only going about 15mph.My alloy was scuffed quite badly.Since the accident i have had a vibration when i get to about 40mph.I had the alloy repaired today and balanced which i hoped would cure the problem but unfortunately its still there.Any help or advice to what damage i could have done would be very much appreciated.
    Thanks

sorry to hear your problem, if the wheel balanced ok then first off id try putting it on the rear and see if it makes a differece if not id then check the bottom ball joint for play aswell as the TRE and rack, if all appears good id then have a good look at the bottom arm and mounts if all still seems ok iwould check the top mount hope this helps bud

it could be the tracking but id be checking the whole front suspension first, i would also try swapping the wheel with the spare to see if the vibration goes, if it does go then its down to the wheel being bent

To be honest i have been drivng with my space saver for a day whilst my alloy was repaired and although i couldnt drive over 50 mph i did think that the vibration had gone with the space saver on.If the wheel is bent wouldnt they have picked this up when it was balanced after repair?

They should but it can be missed, also a wheel can be balanced but still be off, if you get my meaning, if with your space saver on it drove fine then i would say its the wheel at fault mate, you could try putting the repaired one on the rear so you have a good one on the front and see if that makes any difference, sometimes a buckeled wheel on the rear behaves better than if its on the front
