I just find it very hard to get over 30mpg in this car. 360miles to the tank and 27.9 reading on the mfd. Ridiculous. My previous 218k miler was much better than that. What could be wrong.

It has now done 94.5k. I got it at 83k in the summer. Serviced it (Spark plugs, oil change, cam belt change, water pump) at 84k at an independent and at 94k about 6weeks ago I changed oil again. It doesn't burn any oil at all. 5w- 40 in at the moment.

Not sure why this car is doing so badlyu at the pumps?????

Any ideas? A dirty MAF? dunno

that's not too bad i'm getting (and always have) around 23-25mpg as an average but mine is a 2003 AWT 1.8T tiptronic, espesially at the pump prices today it's getting rather expensive to run

I get 35 + locally and 39 + on long motorway runs. Best to date 42.1 on Shell fuel 300 miles on the motorway, M8, M74, M6, M50. Suspect MAF, you can try a clean but be careful. Regards Peter

    Thanks Peter.

My tank gives 370miles. I expect at least 420.... The old car did that.

    I'll investigate this MAF...

I have also started having problems with some electrics and alarm!! Nothing serious just very annoying. This is another story

Had my lowest local running MPG to date 30.8 but the weather has been rubbish and all very local runs from cold. What are the electrical problems. are your carpets dry, particulary the front passenger foot well. Regards Peter

You don't mention any air-filter changes, a dirty one will pull the MPG
    way down.

    Regards
    Jim
