    Hi All,

my wife's suzuki swift mk2 W-Reg refuses to start since we went away for xmas. I have checked and there is a spark at the lead, there is fuel getting through as i can smell it but it refuses to fire.

it has a 1.3 8v engine with fuel injection and i think its SPI but may be mistaken.

the engine is cranking over fine, tho my repeated attempts have flattened the battery so i had to jump it from my mondeo which made no difference, it just cranks over but wont fire.

a few other forums have suggested it might be the ignition relay, but surely i wouldnt be getting a spark if this was done for?

the other suggestion is that the timing belt has snapped but this is very tricky to get at so havent checked it yet. if i remove the dizzy cap and crank it and the rotor moves, would this indicate that the belt is fine?

    thanks all

did you notice if the dizzy cap was damp inside? give it a wipe out and see if that makes any difference, also is the engine damp to look at? may pay to give the leads a lite dusting of wd40 when you try to start it hold your foot to the floor on the throttle pedal as its prob flooded, hope you get it started mate

    thanks Phil,

forgot to say that earlier on i removed and cleaned the dizzy cap and rotor arm and gave them a dusting of WD40 which hasnt helped i'm sad to say.

the engine is damp to look at (its very foggy here today) and very oily. i'll have a go at some foot-to-the floor action tomorrow when it gets light.
