    Hi Guys,

    I have a 2007 mk5 1.9 tdi.

My seatbelt warning chime is ding-dinging constantly until the passenger seatbelt is fastened - even if there is nothing or nobody on the seat...

any ideas for me to check before putting it into the dealer?

    Cheers

This is probably illegal but I can tell youn that it works.

Just disconnect the alarm, which is under the seat and is easy to do. Just be careful as I think another connecter under the passenger seat is to do with the airbags.

    Good luck

    Hiya,

I'd rather keep the chime than potentially damaging airbags etc.

    Cheers anyway :-)

You can turn off the chime with VAGCOM, no messing with any wires or airbags etc. It isnt illegal.

If you want it fixing (is it under warranty? Otherwise just turn it off) then its probably a fault within the seat sensor, might need a new seatbelt latch perhaps?, A VAGCOM fault code scan would point you in the right direction.

iirc the seat base has a pressure sensor in it, so it sounds as tho that is now faulty, to fit a new one you would need to remove the seat and strip it down to replace the pad, bit of a mare to do really, it is not against the law to disable the ding and if it was me id disable it mate

    Thanks for all the comments...

In the end me and a few friends invested in a VCDS cable and I have just switched it off - no more ping pinging on my way home.

    Cheers :-)
