The rear wiper stays on constantly (not even intermittent) on our Audi A4 B6 as soon as the ignition is turned on. I removed the fuse for the wiper system and it will stay off, but this also operates the front wipers, so is not a short term option. I also tried removing the fuse from the washer system as this is normally the only circumstance under which the wiper operates constantly, but that didn't work.

    Any tips or ideas?

Apologies if this seems too obvious, but, you do know how they sould operate don't you? i.e. intermittent operation if you push the stalk away from the steering wheel!
    Just checking!
If all else fails, you could simply take off the rear wiper arm so that its operation causes no grief.
Presumably vcds would show a fault and give you a steer on where to turn your attention.
    Best of luck.

Ok I think I now how to operate it, by switching it away from the steering wheel. It acts like a toggle. So I have now run VCDS and it has found the following fault:

    01753 - Windshield Wiper Motor (V) Stage 1
31-10 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent

I think I will need to book the car into the garage, as I am not an electrician.

    Thanks for you help.

That's beginning to make more sense, as I unblocked the jets on the rear wiper on Saturday. I used the car on Sunday and it worked ok until the afternoon.

It's going into the garage tomorrow, so I am not looking forward to the bill.

I had the same thing and on my older avant, its most likely water getting into the motor from the pipe that supplys the water, after a while it just breaks, check you hatch for water drips, very often happens in this weather.

Its an easy fix, the new motor is a dealer only part but is quite cheap I thought, fitting is a pain, dont take the panel all the way off, although I couldnt actually get it right off, I just struggled with it half off, scraped knuckles etc, I used a 3 leg puller to get the arm off the motor, safer than bracing against the window! took about an hour, I reckon if I had to do it again it would take half that, but mine was done in the good weather!
