I bought a March 10 A4 TDI SE this week. Overall I'm delighted with the car, but I have grown to rely on cruise control. I just read the latest A4 brochure before buying the car which lists the SE as having standard cruise control....but apparently this only became standard fit over the last few months. I didn't notice the lack of cruise control when testing the car - what a plonker!
My local dealer quoted me £500 to retro fit.
My question is does anyone have a recommendation of a cheaper independent supplier of retrofit cruise control.
I'm based in Cheltenham, but travel around midlands / north of England.
    Many thanks for any advice.

im not 100%sure on the newer cars so if im wrong someone will put me right, but you will need the switch to operate it and a recode by VCDS, the ccm will need to be told it now has cruise fitted, not sure if you need to update a control module or not, im sure someone with VCDS will confirm this, you could always send a pm to crasher or martin1810 both are in the know, hope this helps bud

http://www.tclsatnav.com/index.html are around Manchester I think. It's run by Craigyb who'd on many car forums.

Or http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk/products/index.asp (run by Ben who's also on a lot of forums) and he's in Mansfield

I don't kno their prices but I'd guess under half the Audi price.

Our very own A8 Tech also undertakes Cruise retrofits. He's based in the North West, and you will probably need to travel to him to get the job done, but I believe he charges very reasonable rates.

Many thanks guys - I'll look into all the options above.
There's also a company called Hazzy Dayz near Luton who claim to be a specialist in retro fit cruise. Does anybody have any experience of this company?

HI Desmo, I would just add, make sure you buy OEM or Quality replica parts from Kufatec (OEM standard), or you will have a car that when it comes to re-sale, (EVEN! a TAXI driver would not touch it).

You may also the steering control unit but I think if you have DIS (Computer) it would be ok. I fitted it last year to mine a very straightforward job takes about an hour.

    Thanks,
I'm not planning to fit it myself - just want the best value option using genuine parts. I'll report back when I get it fitted and what the cost and result is.

For B8 8k platform A4/A5 its roughly £250 fitted, the full switch pack is replaced unlike b7 which required only the cruise switch.

If you have multifunction steering wheel you have the high line steering angle sender so its not required

Hazzy days is fine but often more expensive than the dealers themselves.

Problem is people always suspect the dealer will be the most expensive but truth is the independents are charging more in my area.

Labour time 1 hour 15 mins (normally takes under the hour) but this at the dealers were the software comparison test take the time unlike vag com which takes 5 mins top, if retrofitted by none approved then please ask the your local dealership to update the vehicle with svm on line coding 050 050.

Interestingly I resolved a TT owners club members 2010 cruise retro fit problem recently, he choose a well known northwest so called specialist who not only charged more than local dealers but was unable to activate the cruise and this is not the first customer, using google I found lots of anti dealer comments but found nearly all had paid over the odds and most TT TTS OWNERS needed the dealers to rectify the missing signaling wire.

Some dealers may decline the retro fit for TT as its not approved or should I say there has been no installation instruction for workshop procedure however there is for B8 A4 and many others with a labour time so no overcharging

I'm not punting for work just experience tells me to retry the dealer or try another, as you will still need the dealer to make the retro fit complete by vag server online svm so the code changes become permanent additionally this updates the vehicles build specification and list the cruise as factory approved install.
