    Hi Folks,

I've been looking on the Audi Approved Used car list and have seen a couple of vehicles that are 200+ miles away from my location (plus a boat ride, as I live in Northern Ireland). If I go into my local dealer, is it possible for them to get an approved used car shipped across from another dealer?

I know I should really phone my local dealer and ask this question but I don't want to get dragged into a conversation with them at the minute as I am not in a position to buy (will be in the imminent future).

Thanks in advance for your replies!!

You should really call and ask them!

I reckon its unlikey unless you agree to purchase the car (and put down a deposit) before they bring the car over.

Ok, so let's assume I agree to buy and pay a deposit. What kind of bargaining power do I have to negotiate money off it?

Am I weakening my position by going down this route (assuming they will do it)?

You wont have much room to negotiate I reckon, depends where the car is from though, and how much you are spending?

if its from another dealership within the same group then you might have some room, if its brought in from outside then it depends what price they bring it in at.

Show the dealer you are serious and not messing them about then you might get them to shift a bit on the price.

    its 50/50.

I'm not sure about Northern Ireland, but if I saw a car in a dealer say in Manchester it can be possible to buy the car from a local dealer in London and arrange purchasing and financing the car from the London dealer. It really depends on the dealer in question (Manchester) if they are 'prepared' to release the car to another audi dealer.
In general speaking they tend not to let cars leave their group or forecourts if they know its going to sell. (high spec, first to see would buy kind of thing).
Only way to find out is to speak to your Belfast audi because if they did intend to trade with a dealer on the mainland I would presume it would incur some kind of boat/shipping charge. Either that, or hop on the boat and come to England.

As Isaac says its a credit card on the table jobby before the business manager starts playing games. Also shop around, many dealers would price match or beat the price you have been given in order to attract a sale. Especially if your serious.

When I was looking for an A3 (and I still am), Audi said they could bring ANY car from the mainland on a transporter for a fee. Depends on the dealer(s).

You should buy it and drive enjoying your new purchase back and get the boat

I would agree with previous answer. I bought an A4 Avant quattro sport diesel in Aberdeen four years ago. Got loads of extra pics sent over and spoke to the seller. The spec had been uprated to s line as well with Bose etc which I didn't expect.
Quick flight to Aberdeen and great drive to ferry. Private seller but worth it as Agnew's couldn't source the Avant with the spec I wanted, and i got it £1.5K cheaper than Agnews said they would need for similiar car.
Do your homework, check it all out and the flight is cheap. I will probably do it again.

Same here, at the time Agnew's couldn't source the A6 I wanted (Le Mans, Nav etc). I think because they are the only main Audi dealer in Northern Ireland, they can get away with bringing lower-spec cars from the mainland, re-registering them and bunking the price up because they know that most people wouldn't want to travel and buy local.

You're far better dealing with the dealer on the Mainland and negotiate directly. Take for instance my A6, I saved £3000 on the car by traveling to England, driving the car to Stranraer and getting the boat back. (I think the boat at the time was £150 for 2 passengers, £50 of diesel and food money).

Talk to Agnew's and the dealer in England etc and see what the score is.

    Hope this helps a bit.

(And I think I answered your PM in this reply aswell )
