    Hi chaps

I have just bought a second hand Parrot CK3000 bluetooth kit from a well known auction site (!), plus a VW SOT connector (to convert the ISO blocks).

I've done research on this forum so am pretty confident I'll do this with no problems.

My question is what I do about the switched ignition power. I've heard comments about switching the red/orange wires (is this really necessary?) I already have a switched 12v live from a Sony Stereo which is really handy as that's the most difficult part I think.

So can anyone who has done this help me - I have all the parts, simply just the confusion with red/orange leads and where to link the 12v switched live to.

    Thanks in advance!

This may help me to be more specific:

Which of these wires is the one I have to tap into the switched ignition feed?!

    Thanks

Black / white wire in passenger side fuse box is ignition feed. Tap into it. Don't know about the loom though, can you ask the seller ??

I would go with power feed from the glove box as well. Think the wires only need switched for after Market headunits.

Cheers guys, I was hoping someone who had installed one would know exactly what I do with which wires above. I have however just read that the Connects2 VWCT01 model is highly recommended, as the ignition feed 12v wire is on a 'fly' so I don't need to mess with the parrot wiring, and can hook it up to my existing switched power feed.

I used the SOT originally and got the live from the climate control switch underneath the unit. Only problem I had was getting the SOT cable to fit behind the dash as it was a bit tight in the passat and there are a lot of blocks to store. I ended up buying a Parrot specific lead to rectify this.

There are so many VW SOT adapters available on ebay - will they all have the fly-wire to connect to my switched feed?!

    The bluetooth kit arrived today.

A little confused as I don't know what car this kit came out of. The power wires coming out of the parrot box (black, red and orange) seem to make sense, however the orange wire here does not go through a fuse like the 12v battery one does. It has been cut from somewhere, so wondered if this orange wire is the one I will connect to my switched ignition wire.

Obviously this will only make sense to those who have installed one in the past, so any help would be appreciated! The speaker/mute ISOs make complete sense, it's just the power ones that are causing me bother!

I've not fitted a Parrot to a Passat (I've got the over-priced, under performing VW Premium kit). But I have fitted a Parrot to an Eos and a Nokia kit to my Golf. The electrics of all 3 are similar.

There is no switched live at the back of the RCD300/310/500/510 radio, both supply wires are permanent live. No adaptor lead will give you the supply you need.

Your best option for a switched supply is either from the back of the cigar lighter socket in front of the gear lever or direct from the fusebox inside the driver's door. If you go to the fusebox, just use a multimeter to find a spare pin which is live with ignition on and stuff a spade in it. Whichever you choose, make sure you use a 1A in-line fuse.

I'd recommend that rather than using a SOT lead you spend a couple of quid more and get a Quadlok to Quadlok extension. You can then put the Parrot wiring in the middle of this and not have to monkey about with the car loom. If you need further info PM me an E-mail address and I'll send you details of the lead and photos of the job.

You don't say which Parrot kit you have but I'm assuming it is CK3000 or 3100. Also, if you have the multi-function steering wheen buttons you can add a Parrot MultiCAN box for about £50. This integrates it with the steering wheel and makes it work as if it is a factory fit kit.
