My 2003 1.9 PD TDi engine.
Longlife spec is 506.00 or 506.01
Std intervals is 500.00 & 505.00 (funny manual states must meet both specs, you'd have thought 505.00 would supercede 500.00)

Anyway looking around there's oil which is 507.00, does this supercede 506.00?

I'm looking at changing the oil every 10k anyway, even tho I only do motorway miles in the main. Buying it in 25lt drums is around £100.

Or should i just stick to the standard interval 505.00, which the manual states is fine, this is not a lot cheaper anyway, around £90 for 25ltr

Also is there a special tool for removing the oil filter housing on a 1.9?

You want 505.01 for the PD engine. I'm not too sure about 506 and 507. There is a tool for the oil filter cap but I just use a good rubber wrench.

507 00 is the latest spec oil which supersedes the others. Castol Edge or Mobil ESP is what I'd use. Or VW own make which is Catrol but in there container...

My manual says 505.01 for PD, and
505.00 & 500.00 for non-PD (Both must be on the container).

Have you checked your manual isn't an older replacement? (Usually the year is printed inside the back cover)

yes i read the manual wrong, it says 505.00 & 500.00 specs (together) or 505.01 for fixed interval and 506.01 for long life.

I'm very tempted to buy Exol Optima LSV 5w/30 which off ebay is around £107 inc del for 25lt. It's 507.00 spec and i'd change it every 10k anyway for what it costs and peace of mind. Car has done 145k now.
