Hi all, I posted a similar question in the B6 forum thinking I had a B6 model. I have been told my 2005 Audi A4 2.0 TDI (140BHP) car is a B7 model. What is the engine oil capacity of this model? Is it like the B6, which to the best of my knowledge is 3.8litres of oil? regards, Paddy,

the figure you quote of 3.8 rings a bell for me somewhere so it is likely correct.

I have around 4.5 litres in and the oil looks to be at the max level. On top of the max level is a round ball (part of the plastic level) that then leads into the long metal dipstick rod. The oil is not over that, for sure. I need to drain some of the oil later this evening. I have 50miles to drive to get home, so I hope I wont damage the car.

    Hi all,

the engine oil i used was 5w40 Valvoline synthetic blend.

    it says on the back:

" DuraBlend Diesel SAE 5W-40, API: CF, ACEA:B3/B4, Ford M2C-917A, MB-Approval, Approved under VW standard 505.00/505.01"

Sounds like it might be a 'smidge' overfull.
Should have approx 3.8 litres of oil (inc filter change)

The maximum mark is usually about 10mm below that ball you speak of.
Depending on dipstick, the oil level should be somewhere in the patterned area. Preferably somewhere near the top end of this area of the dipstick.
Difficult to explain, do you have an owners manual, If so look in the index under checking fluids. There is a handy picture.

You've got the right oil by the sound of it. This engine requires VW505.01 on fixed service intervals.

Hi Lateknight, I just drained out about a litre of Oil. So I think its at the right level now. Its very hard to tell with that black ended dipstick. Wish it was metal all the way down. I'll keep monitoring it, but I am sure its ok now. There is definately 3.5 litres in it. thanks a million for all advice everyone.
