Hi there everyone.I wonder if anyone can help me.Ive got an audi a4 2.5tdi quattro sport, manual (180).Its 2001 with 95,000 on the clock (fsh).I just took it for an mot today and it failed on emissions.Im was quite shocked at this to be honest as its only done 6000 miles since its last mot and i need help to try and resolve to get the emission level back down.I take it may be one of many reasons, maybe a sensor etc or worst case the cat.Im not a mechanic in anyway but does anyone know how long a cat would last on average until it needs replacing.Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you resolve it.As from now the a4 is off the road until a mechanic friend will look at it the weekend. It drives so well and is by far the best car ive ever owned.Any help would be very gratefully accepted. cheers john

hi mate sorry to hear this, did they give you a print out of the emmitted smoke? if so can you post it up please bud, also does your car give out alot of black smoke if you nail the throttle? when i have this at work ie a diesel that fails the emmissons when use a product call FORTE DIESEL TREATMENT, you can add it to the tank or into an empty fuel filter, then when the engine is warm take it for a hard drive this normally cleans the fuel system and lowers the exhaust emissons, i can if you want send you up a can for £10 inc p&p, here is a link to the forte site with more details about the treatment

    hope it helps bud

thats not to bad ive seen worse from a modern diesel, the forte treatment will lower it to pass the mot test, we had a golf mk4 TDI and that was 6.4 after adding the treatment and giving it a hard drive it sailed thro with a reading of 1.7, i dont think its a cat problem i think its carboned up and will benefit from using the forte product

always give a diesel a good thrashing prior to an mot to clean out the soot from the system, also the treatment you recomend is good, however i filled a brand new diesel filter with it once and it played havoc with the injection system, i stick it in the tank now and all is good.

Hi phil.My steering when im parking up - the steering makes a whineing noise, like a loud deep sounding screeching.Ive checked my power steering fluid and its at the right level. Not sure if dirt has clogged up in a pipe etc or its the steering pump,it doesnt happen when im driving only when the car is stationary like when im parking and i turn the wheel. cheers john.
