I have an intermittent fault with my 95 A4.

The ABS warning chimes in, using VAG-COM lite it told me it was the inlet valve rear right, then a few weeks later it was front left outlet valve.

    1) Has anyone else heard of this intermittent fault in the past?

    2) Can the ABS ECUs be simply swapped?

    thanks in advance folks

    Dave

    Contaminated fluid can throw-up intermittent
faults. It might just need flushed.

thanks Jim, finally got around to changing the fluid and the rear left nipple is too corroded inside the caliper and has sheared into pieces so I'm now on the hunt for a replacement and without a car! Will update once I have replaced it.

fitted a new caliper, bled the system with Audi fluid and the beeps are still there, gah!

Any other ideas on this? The flashing at night when using the motorway can get annoying.

    Any help appreciated

The annoying side of modern electronics!!!!

When you clear these faults, and read after further beeps,
is there any pattern or are they just random?

It could well-be the ABS unit, you can remove the ECU and
    get it tested.

Have you looked at the wheel-speed sensors?

Just trying to cover all angles.

    Regards
    Jim

The rear abs ring is cracked, I realise its an obvious one but when it's on the disc you could't tell it was cracked. In the morning when I reverse off the drive it doesn't beep until I start going forward.

Something else I have noticed is if it's been raining hard and I use the car it doesn't register, I'm wondering if the ring being damp could have an effect? or some exposed wires being earthed? The strange this is it was the rear right then front left and as far as I'm aware the front ring is fine. Also both them being 'control valves' surely the ring can be excluded? Just talking as I type to put ideas out there.

What was your exact VAG COM faults?

    Mine originally was as follows:

    Control Module Part Number: 4D0 907 379 J
    Component and/or Version: ABS/EDS BOSCH 5 7679
    Software Coding: 0265109024
    Work Shop Code: BB 37679
    3 Faults Found:
00285 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor: Front Right (G45)
    30-00 - Open or Short to B+
    00274 - ABS Outlet Valve - Left Rear - N134
    35-00 - Please Register/Activate
    00267 - ABS Outlet - Right Front - N100
    35-00 - Please Register/Activate

My passenger side front ABS sensor lead was broken somewhere and caused these faults, even though it indicates that there are problems with the left rear and right front valves. Replacing the sensor cleared all of the faults.

Thanks for the input. I re-ran vag-com and it now says 'abs inlet valve rear right, intermittent fault'. Cleaning the sensors didn't make any difference. I started the engine and wiggled the abs sensor wires to test to see if it would throw up the flashing lights and beeps incase the wires were at fault but it didn't beep/flash. I've cleared the faults with vag-com, waiting to see if the rear right fault would come back but no faults are currently being reported, I'll use the car abit more to to find out if it's now ok.

Mark, once you fitted the new sensor did the abs light/beeps just disappear or did you reset the fault with vag-com?

Mine doesn't beep some previous owner hacked my Bose system out and put in a 50 dollar Panasonic head unit and chopped all the wires going to the original Delta II head unit. I patched it back together and everything works including the CD changer in the trunk, but it doesn't beep for a fault, and i can't communicate with it using the VAG-Com program.

Once the sensor was replaced the lights went right out. I had both the ABS light and the brake light on solid, no flashing lights as other people have reproted for similar issues.
