Doesn't that suggest you have an indicator bulb out...or am I missing something?

What do you mean by ' indicators not working correctly ?'

Indicators normally flash at a faster rate if one bulb is out on the side thats being illuminated - this includes the repeaters in the mirror housing.

    I used the search button!

My car's bulb out warning lamp is on but all the bulbs are working correctly?

Does this require a ******* to reset the computer or is there a DIY solution?

    TIA

Woohoo, someone using the search function for a change

The bulb out warning is detecting any voltage/current drop ina circuit, may be the bulb isn't fully blown.

Are you sure non of the bulbs are blown ? - its difficult to see the front side/parking lights for the DRLs, and not everyone checks both number plate lights, the main beam bulbs and all the brake lights.

If the older Mk4 Golfs are anything to go by, then i'd bet on a rear tail lamp, or brake light - as opposed to the front end,, and if an indicator is the issue then the rate of flashing of the indicators changes for the side thats affected (eg if one of the indicators ont he right isn't functioning then the other indicators and the dahsboard tell tale flashes a lot quicker than the left side).

If there are no actual failures, then its probably a case of removing and reinserting each one at a time until the issue goes away - if this is the case start with the rear light clusters.

This reminds me of the old joke about, "Is my indicator working?"

"yes, no, yes, no, yes, no, etc."

The other day after I washed my car and the bulb warning light came on, after walking round the car several times and turnng everything on and off several times I finnaly spotted one of the rear number plate lights was out, I gave it a knock and it came on again and the warning light went out, without any need for a reset.

Maybe so slowhand but that was a temporary fix not a permanent one its still got a bad connection somewhere.

I'm aware thats VW's have this bulb failure warning which is a great thing infact its a fantastic feature that vehicles should have. I see loads of vehicles running about with bulbs out I normally flash the driver but today if someone flashes you it can be classes as road rage.

Back in the 70's/80's the Austin Princess was the first vehicle that I've seen that had a bulb failure system, it had fibre optical cables running from each light. If the bulb wasn't lit the the fibre optic wouldn't be lit for that lamp. There was a vehicle layout in a panel and you switched on the different lights and pressed a test button to see it there all worked. That was 30 years ago with modern technology it can easily be incorporated.
