We have just ordered a Mk VI having had a couple of Mk Vs. Just wondering, seen as the new car is closely related to the old version, if the following Volkswagen MK V accessories also fit the MK VI?

    Roof Bars
    Flexible bootliner
    Rubber mats

    Thanks

    Thanks
Why not check with the main dealers?
However I would think that the boot liner and interior rubber mats would fit their available spaces. In fact my MK5's rubber mats are in my MK6 although the securing turn buttons of the MK5 are not present - just stubs in the same place.

    Roof bars - I don't know.

    Cheers.

Main dealer (sales) didn't know and by the time we had finished haggling, the desire to leave quickly was overpowering!

Time for a call to parts.

The floor securing arrnagement in the Mk5 had two variants - later cars with the round studs are the same as the Mk6.

My mats are actually a Mk5 part number.

Had an interesting experience with roof bars in France.

Staying with relatives and offered a 350 litre roof box if we could get it home.

Went to French version of Halfords - mont blanc manufactured roof bars for equiv. of £120, problem was only referred to as fitting Golf Mark 5.

Spoken French not up to asking shop assistant whether they would fit a 6, so went to nearest VW dealer.

He was very careful in checking car's VIN number, then placed the order for Mark 6 roof bars for next day delivery, cost £155. Again, didn't have ability to ask dealer whether Mk 5 bars would fit.

Bars turn up next day as promised. What does the box say? Roof Bars, VW Golf, 2004 on. So, they were mark 5 bars after all. They fit a mark 6, the fixing points must be identical.

Thanks to all for the information.

It appears that the roof was carried over untouched from the MKV so hence the roofbars still fit.

Saves a few pennies when mats etc. can all be transferred!

I had a Mk V with roofbars (VW) and mats (VW) which I traded in for a new Mk VI about 9 months ago (both 5 door versions). I wanted to keep the bars and mats because of the cost of new ones and found that the roof panel and floor pan of the Mk VI were unchanged in these areas. The Mk V bars and mats fitted the Mk VI with no problems. There is a small difference on the fitting of the front roof bar. On the Mk V the bar is located by two pointed studs which go into plastic inserts just above the door. On the Mk VI the plastic inserts are replaced by two metal threaded inserts in the same locations. These have plastic plugs in which you need to remove to fit the bar. The studs on the bar fit in the normal way. The threaded inserts are probably for a feature thats on newer roof bars but its backwards compatible.
