Been browsing 2009 Passat estates as current 2009 Golf isn't big enough for weekends away and holidays.

Seem to be plenty of R line and Highline cars around with the 110bhp which is fine for my purposes

My query is what is / was the spec for both models?

I know the r line got 17" 5 spoke alloys and a bodykit whereas the highline got multispoke alloys. What else was different externally and internally??

    Thanks

    Basically this

R Line = Entry level S model Passat with a Sport Bodykit (Replaced Sport Model) (17" 5 spoke sport Alloys/front/rear spliter/front elecy windows/rear window winders/4 speakers (unless if demo)/No front armrest/Black trim/CR Engine

    Highline = Top spec Passat model (replaced SEL really) (17" 14 spoke alloys/Front heated leather/Elec windows all round/chrome trim/No bodykit/6-8 speakers front & rear/Front armrest/Ipod connection/CR Engine

    Basically go for the Highline

percymon, check the Highline seats, they don't suit everyone and I really don't like mine, too hard and flat for my liking. I also much prefer the R alloys, as I had these on my previous Passat Sport. The Highline alloys are a pain to keep clean as they are 14 spoke, lots of fiddly bits to get into.

People are also divided over the looks of the R Line, you either love or hate it. The R has plastic bump strips on all 4 doors and rear bumper, the Highline has chrome strips.

Thanks Rappy........John mate the only prob I can really see with the R line is it's very poorly spc'd same as my S model if I had the money I'd be either in an SE/Sport/SEL/Highline

The seats in the Higline are way better than the ones in the S/R as they're basically SE seats with leather...On the alloys front the 5 spokes win.

If it were me I'd get a highline and then change the wheels

I was faced with the same options last week when looking for a new car. The highline was my choice as the spec level is much much better. The seats are the same as my old SE only covered in leather. I gave found now though that the seats don't seem to go as low as the last car.

I think the R Line also has multifunction steering wheel, cruise, and centre arm rest (not sure on the arm rest), so not too bad.

Yes not too bad bust as standard most don't as I said before these are extras unless you're lucky. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the money is on the Highline

Do you have an R line sat? If so what's the spec on yours just out of interest. I seen 2 one an ex demo (fully kitted out even had rear speakers and leather) another ex company and it was basically my car with 17" sport wheels

I had a new Passat Highline Plus Bluemotion Technology 2.0 TDI 140 earlier this year, my second new B6 Passat. My first one was a 55 reg Passat Sport 2.0 TDI which I also had from new (both company cars).

Thanks for the replies, I'm obviously going to have to look at both specs side by side. I like the look of both cars, highline looks a bit luxury, r sporty.

Anyone know if the r line gets lowered suspension?
